so went to watch the chronicles yesterday... and here's the verdict...
visuals - pretty ok... some of the shots and effects were quite nice... but of course there were some very over done parts... (andrew adamson must have forgotten he was making a real life motion picture not not shrek 3-the lion the witch and the ogre)
music - ok was pretty good i dare say... except maybe for the hide and seek part at the begining of the show... totally spoilt the mood...
acting - the white witch is fierce and strong and cold... not cool and bitchy... tilda swinton tall yes... scary... no... other options include Glenn Close (cruella devil) and kate Cate blanchett(galadriel)...(btw lucy pevenci was supposed the be a blonde girl not a brunette) anyway.... acting was so so... nothing to fantastic.. but then again most of them are new comers so they were all pretty stiff sorta...
costume - ok jadis's costume wrong wrong wrong... the rest of the costumes were pretty ok i guess...
set - ok i'd pass it... most of the scenery looked pretty good... except for the fact that the stone table did not look like a stone table and cair paravel looked more like a mansion from the tv series OC insteat of an antient castle...
props - nice looking stuff... (rhindon looked uncannyly like anduril in lotr 3)
DIALOGUE - saved the best for last... that was the total PITFALL of the entire movie... ESPECIALLY the first part... (namely the beversdam scene) scripwriter really ought to be shot... how the hell does one turn a literery classic form the great master CS Lewis into some modern day brit comedy... *oh wait that stupid scriptwriter already did that* ok the dialogue completely SUCKED... probably go as far to say that that was the worst script i've ever heard since ch 5 tv serieses... i really could go on.... they left out like half of the most important lines... paraphrased the rest of the important lines so that they lost their importance anyway...
but ok to be fair the movie did pretty much follow the actual storyline... even though they took the liberty to screw up some of the actual sequence of events... ok overall it did get better towards the end... the battle scene did look pretty good... and yes i did enjoy most of the movie... with the exception of all the squirming i did in my seat due to all the horrendous dialogue...
maybe peter jackson should have directed the chronicles and andrew adamson direct king kong... maybe it'd have turned out better...
